a hat that connects heartsMy friend Swan Treasure gifted me this beautiful hat she hand-felted for my travels to the Middle East. My travels started early this morning when my partner Alan, drove me to Inverness airport. I boarded the 7 am flight to be at the Iranian Consulate in High Street Kensington before noon, when their offices close. However upon arriving there, it soon became evident that no one was going to open the doors.

I hear the land
and understand people here in Tatvan I delight in a language born as a twin to my mother tongue then the two languages, Farsi and Kurdi flowed down the river of time changing in accents sounding sweetly familiar in my ears my heart is here I belong to the earth and one with her people I am not a foreigner there are no foreigners we are one people belonging to the earth Lying down on her bed
of moss and twigs beneath the ancient araucaria tree I heard the earth whisper to me "I will heal you" "Thank you" said my body who is pierced with pain "I am ready to be whole again." Volcan Lanin, Chile, April 21, 2016 We converged in the beautiful ground of Gümüslük Academy near Bodrum in Turkey. Representatives from 4 countries gathered for one purpose : bringing our strengths and desires together to heal our damaged earth, and in doing so activate our own power and potential as movers and healers.
We mixed the soil we brought from Iran, Turkey, Syria, Palestine, and Scotland with an invocation to make our soils fertile and alive again. We mixed the waters from our countries with an invocation to remove all barriers on the flowing of our waters, both at the country and personal levels. We shared words of inspiration from our literature to share oneness of our humanity. We burned twigs and wood we brought from our land to light a sacred fire in each of our lives and for us as a group to have the fire we need for the Gathering. Magical seeds appeared by way of Alp who had grown and saved them on his land. At the end of the Convergence we planted the seeds together in the Gümüslük Garden guided by Saad's expertise in agro-ecology. We planted the seeds in the soil of our countries, watered by the water we mixed from our lands. I had this dream before the Convergence that we will come together - people from the 4 corners in the Fertile Crescent. We will make new seeds together. Seeds of Renewal, Regeneration, Restoration. We take the seeds home with us and plant them. The seeds grow and become trees, different trees in each region. In time the leaves and branches of the trees sway in the wind and the crown of trees pick up a resonance that is carried on the wind from place to place. The trees know that in our difference we are united. The trees grow, restoring the health and vitality of the Fertile Crescent. The Convergence in Bodrum seeded this dream at the physical level. I am ever grateful to all 18 of us seedy gardeners of our Fertile Earth. I met Romi, a seeker of the Law of One in Louisville, Kentucky in 1994. He became my best friend and remains so ever since. In his presence I feel I can seek the deepest and the most ridiculous corners of my being, or I can simply be myself. What a gift! I think everyone needs a friend in whose presence they can be totally free and most genuinely themselves. This is the gift of a friend.
Thank you Romi for helping me with my Seeking to become whole and most truly myself. You have been a gift in my life ever since I met you. As a Seeker we've been asking life's formative questions : 'Why am I here? What am I to do with my life?' Romi is dedicating his life now to look after his mother. I am organising the Earth Healing Gathering in Tatvan. Both services to our other beloved selves. It has been such a pleasure for me to meet up with Romi, my friend of 22 years in Prague. We walked to the old castle and the observation tower.
I asked him in great details about his escape experience from his homeland back in the 80's. He told me his story. He wanted his personal freedom. He left everything cherished and familiar behind, pushed into the great unknown beyond, in search of his freedom. He found it at last in the great continent of America. At last he brought his freedom back home with him, and we walked with great ease and pleasure through Prague. His Holiness the Pope John Paul II, had been the only person who mistook me to be from Ireland instead of from Iran, when I introduced myself. Years later when I did a workshop in a monastery in Sligo in the Republic of Ireland I happened to share this story with the monks there. I also happened to share that my son's ancestors are from Sligo in Ireland. Upon hearing this, the chief monk gazed at me insightfully as if looking at the infinite mysteries of the inner realm. He told me that the Pope is a very insightful man. Perhaps he could see something in the distant future that I could only take as a mistake then due to my limited understanding. I really enjoyed the monk's twist on my take of the story. In other words time changes everything, even the stories we take as the most absurd mistakes could become the most profound truths.
Pupak and her Peace Studies Group in Vatican, 1989. I made this piece of glass during the New Story Summit in Findhorn. It is an evolution of a piece I made earlier called 'opening my mind.'
